Students of Faculty of Education in Banská Bystrica, Department of Creative Arts and Art Education, started this camp in September 2nd-3rd 1985. It was Marián Lacko from Rimavská Sobota and Ján Husár from Martin, with the help of the City Culture Centre and the Youth Club in Rimavská Sobota.

Their original aim, to meet every year to create and present their works, has changed within 25 years. The camp has become the biggest in Slovakia, as for the number of participants and the number of workshops as well. As many as 6200 professional and non-professional fans of the arts from Slovakia, Czech republic, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Ukraine, Finland, France, Netherlands, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Romania, Angola, Italy, Poland, USA and Jordan have already participated at these workshops so far.

In the last 10 years Letavy camp has become an interdisciplinary event, not only with the art workshop, but also with photographic, drama, literary, dance and musical ones. Evening programmes offer different artists in their musical, drama, audiovisual or other alternative presentations.

The camp took place 17 times in the Kurinec resort (4km from Rimavska Sobota), six times in Krokava (near Hnúšťa). This time i tis going to be already the second time when we chose Kokava Línia (Poltár district) with its picturesque scenery.
